The VSD electromagnetic safety door switch keeps a guard locked until the machine is genuinely safe, then releases it on command. A solenoid with 1300 N of holding force blocks the operation key, and the door monitoring contacts stay closed until the tongue is fully inserted, so the sequence is mechanical rather than logical. With 2, 4 and 6 contact groups, twelve 4-group contact arrangements, a green pilot lamp and an emergency release, one series covers interlocked doors on machining centres, robot cells and packaging equipment in Europe and Southeast Asia.

Model code VSD + contact code + locking type 4 or 7 + head material E (plastic) + tube size M. Type 4 models lock mechanically and release on DC24V; type 7 models lock on DC24V and release mechanically, which is the safer choice when a power loss must never unlock the guard. The K6 series adds two contact groups, taking the total to six.
Application and Industry ScenariosGuard locking is required wherever a machine cannot stop instantly: machining centres with long spindle run-down, robot cells, injection molding machines, presses with flywheels, palletizing systems, packaging machines with rotating parts, automatic doors on test cells and vertical lifters. The 1300 N holding force also suits heavy sliding doors and gates on automated storage systems where a tongue can be levered open.
Selection and Installation Notes| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What is the difference between type 4 and type 7? | Type 4 locks mechanically and releases when 24 V is applied; type 7 locks when 24 V is applied and releases mechanically, so it fails safe against unauthorised opening during a power loss. |
| Can the switch monitor its own lock position? | Yes, dedicated lock monitoring contacts are included in the 4 and 6 group versions and can be wired to a separate relay channel. |
| Which key should be used for a sliding door? | DE-K4, DE-K5 and DE-K6 are the usual choices for sliding and lift doors; the head rotates to suit the approach direction. |
| Is a manual release available on all models? | Yes, the emergency release is standard; back release (B) is available as an option for doors that are inaccessible from the inside. |
| What is the delivery time? | Standard models ship in 7 to 15 days; 6 group models with special contact arrangements take up to 18 days. |
Switches are packed five per inner box and fifty per export carton, each with mounting screws, a wiring diagram and an instruction sheet. Operation keys are packed by type. Every unit is tested for holding force, contact continuity and seal integrity before packing, and CE documentation travels with the shipment.
